From a static expo website to a platform the team can run

For a national electronics-repair expo in the US, we turned a static website, where every new sponsor or exhibitor meant building pages by hand, into a structured WordPress platform. We redesigned it and managed it for 3–4 years, including its Google Analytics, Search Console and SEO. See more of our event and expo work.

The challenge

The expo’s website was static. Every new sponsor, exhibitor or team member meant creating a new page by hand, then adding the same details to every other page where they should appear. Updates were slow, it was easy to miss a page, and keeping the site current depended on remembering where everything lived.

What we did

Custom post types for sponsors, exhibitors and team

We created dedicated post types, so each sponsor, exhibitor and team member is one entry with its own details, instead of a hand-built page.

ACF fields and pages that fill themselves

With Advanced Custom Fields we defined what each entry holds, such as logo, level, links and bio, and set up the pages to pull entries in automatically. Add a sponsor once and it appears everywhere it should.

Ticketing and application forms

We set up and managed the ticketing forms and the applications for speakers, demos and competitions, so each one reaches the right people.

A modern redesign

We moved the whole site to a modern, mobile-friendly design, so attendees and exhibitors can find tickets, sponsors and the schedule quickly, including on the show floor.

2. Structure

We modelled sponsors, exhibitors and team as post types with ACF fields, and decided where each should appear.

3. Redesign & rebuild

We rebuilt the templates in a modern design that pulls content from those entries automatically.

4. Manage

For 3–4 years we ran the site: adding sponsors and exhibitors, updating forms, keeping it current for each edition and looking after its Google Analytics, Search Console and SEO.
